Invasion_ Frequently Asked Questions Compiled by Brady Dommermuth
This FAQ represents our attempt to be more thorough and to make the FAQ useful to a wider range of players. Here's how it works: This FAQ is *not* meant to be read from beginning to end. It has three sections, each of which serves a different purpose.
GENERAL QUESTIONS
The first section ("GENERAL QUESTIONS") explains new mechanics and concepts in the set; the questions in it aren't tied to a particular card. Think of it as a little rulebook for the Invasion set.
FAQ HIGHLIGHTS
The second section ("FAQ HIGHLIGHTS") is the same as the old-style "Card Specific Questions" portion of the FAQ. It consists of tougher questions that judges and tournament players will need to know.
(CARD QUESTIONS - to appear here soon)
The third section ("CARD-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS") is every reasonable question we could think of that players might ask about a given card -- from very basic to very obscure -- including the ones in the second section.
If you're a veteran player who knows the rules pretty well, you can skip the third section completely. If you're a newer player or one who doesn't care too much about the intricacies of the rules, you can use the third section to look up cards as you would in a glossary.
The following is an addendum to the FAQ which addresses some of the most commonly asked logistical questions:
TOURNAMENT QUESTIONS
Q: What is the K value and rules enforcement level of the prerelease?
A: Invasion prerelease tournaments will be 16K and run at REL 2.
Q: How will extra land be distributed?
A: In Sealed-Deck tournaments, players may exchange up to five basic lands from the cards they receive in the sealed product for basic lands of their choice, provided by the tournament organizer. This land exchange should take place before the deck-construction period is completed. If your tournament organizer chooses not to use the five land swap, he or she will announce this and any alternative prior to the deck registration or construction periods.
Q: What do I do if I open up a foil land?
A: Foil lands may be played with just like regular foil cards. Sometimes, getting a foil land will cause your deck to have more of one type of basic land and less of another. You may not even out the types of basic land you have, except for using the method of extra land distribution announced by the organizer.
